The System Administrator II is responsible for IT infrastructure hardware (primarily at branch locations) and software as well as user management. This includes servers, laptops, desktops, remote work environments, cloud services, information security, user accounts, email, and IP telephony.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, recommend, and deploy branch hardware, including servers, switches, routers, laptops, workstations, peripherals, and other hardware as needed.
- Build and maintain virtualized servers in a VMWare environment, be able to rapidly deploy additional servers as needed by Applications, Enterprise Development, and approved vendors.
- Deploy, maintain, and manage SAN storage environment.
- Apply OS, software, and security patches on all servers.
- Ensure both on-premise and cloud servers and applications are properly backed up, and that backup data is securely stored and routinely tested, adhering to the Credit Unions approved retention policies.
- As required, travel to branch locations to install/maintain equipment or software.
- Maintain a properly designed server rack and a neatly cabled, clean, and clutter-free server/network room in all physical datacenter and branch locations.
- Provide second tier support for the Credit Union's helpdesk and assist with tickets, change management, and requests.
- Plan and deploy logical and physical networks; document internal networking layout and infrastructure, and work with 3rd party network vendor as needed.
- Maintain Active Directory users, groups, permissions, and group policy objects.
- Assist the IT Infrastructure Manager in implementing projects derived from the credit unions vision.
- Administer Office 365 and Exchange Hybrid systems.
- Participate in the planning and deployment of information security improvements and safeguarding of sensitive information within the organization.
- Keep abreast of security and infrastructure trends in the technology and financial sector.
- Perform other duties as required.
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A four-year college degree or (2) Completion of specialized courses of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program that is Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).
Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Skills: Minimum four years of experience in Information Technology. Knowledge of Windows Server 2012 and above, and Windows 10 and above. Strong understanding of Active Directory including design and implementation. Strong understanding of Office 365 (experience with Azure AD a plus). Good understanding of networking concepts (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, and the OSI model). Prior experience with SEIM reporting/alerting software a plus. MCSA, CCNA, CompTIA+, ServiceNow, MS Azure, or equivalent certifications a plus.
