Job purpose
The Desktop Support Technician is an integral member of the IT Support team. Technician provides remote and onsite support within the scope of end-user desktop software issues and repairing/replacing hardware. Technician handles support issues that come in via phone, email, or ticket system. Helpdesk experience and certification is required.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist with end users’ requests via support tickets, phone calls, and direct emails
- Connect to desktops remotely to diagnose and resolve issues
- Maintain record of all work performed, original issues, and result
- Research unclear issues using references and Internet forums
- Troubleshoot issues on Windows and MAC operating systems
- Assist with Office and Outlook configuration
- Transfer user profiles between workstations
- Install PCs, equipment, and peripherals
- Diagnose and repair/upgrade hardware issues
- Prep PCs for use; securely dispose of old PCs
- Assist with printer, fax, copier, and scanner issues and/or repair
- Work with vendors and third-party companies on issues
- Perform software upgrades/updates
Qualifications
Required:
- Education: High school diploma
- Certifications: CompTIA A+ Certification
- Experience: 1-2 years of IT helpdesk or MSP experience
Recommended:
- Associate’s degree or similar education in computer technology
- Network experience
- Office 365 and Azure experience

Working conditions
This position is full time employee, as a mix between on-site work and remote (at home) support. Schedule requested by business, to be determined, will be 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be given, with approval. This position may require employee to be on-call (available for remote assistance) at certain times, and may require weekend or nighttime coverage. The Desktop Support Technician is required to have reliable transportation available for the use of traveling to client locations.
Physical requirements
Job requires both extended periods of sitting and extended periods of standing, depending on the situation. May be required to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
