Job Description The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems. We are looking for a person who understands the value of public service and wants to help us meet the needs of our citizens. This person needs to be an excellent communicator, meaning you can effectively make oral and written reports, presentations and prepare clear and concise documentation. You need to be capable of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients and matrix support teams. We need someone who can resolve complex problems in a timely manner and seeks optimum solutions.
As a .NET developer, you will need to have a solid understanding of programming languages such as C# or Visual Basic, as well as the .NET framework. It is also helpful to have a working knowledge of other programming languages, such as C# or C++, as well as scripting languages like JavaScript and HTML. .NET developers need to understand database concepts well and be proficient in at least one database management system (SQL Server or Oracle)
This individual will be working on some exciting applications like Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) and Criminal History Records Internet Subscription Service while supporting Michigan State Police (MSP). As a .NET Application Developer, this team member is responsible for the planning, constructing and execution of code development for software applications in support of the Michigan State Police. The employee is responsible for understanding requirements and how they translate to application features, write high quality source code to program complete applications, conduct testing and debug applications, and develop technical documents to accurately represent application design and code
The employee plays a key role in application development and support, ensuring that testing and defects are tracked to closure and that the code repository is kept up to date with the status. The goal is to write and deliver clean and flawless code to produce fully functional software applications according to requirements. Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Dimondale, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.
Required Education and Experience Education Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics. Experience No specific type or amount is required. Alternate Education and Experience Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
OR Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
