The Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP) at the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is seeking a .NET Developer to support the evaluation and potential integration of a new system (Orchard) to replace the existing Maryland Accountability Reporting System (MARS).
This is a fully remote opportunity to work with a public agency making a measurable impact in educational accountability and data systems across the state.
Analyze .NET code and system architecture from the District of Columbia to assess compatibility with Orchard
Collaborate with MSDE stakeholders to determine feasibility of replacing MARS
Support data mapping and transformation between legacy and prospective systems
Deliver technical documentation and integration plans for internal use
Provide insight on aligning reporting logic, system requirements, and database structures
35+ years of hands-on C# / .NET experience
Strong grasp of Web API, MySQL, and data transformation
Background in government, education, or public-sector software projects
Familiarity with state reporting systems or large-scale application evaluations
Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and hit the ground running
Start Date: ASAP (April 2025)
Duration: Through February 2026
