UI/UX Desktop Developer (.NET & WPF)

At MIPS, we design software solutions that empower Nebraska’s counties to better serve their communities. We're looking for a UI/UX Desktop Developer with strong expertise in .NET (C#) and WPF to craft modern, responsive, and intuitive desktop applications that support core functions like property assessment, payroll, and public records access.

As part of our product development team, you’ll transform functional requirements into elegant user experiences. This is a highly creative and technical role where you’ll collaborate closely with product managers, and back-end developers to bring clean, consistent, and purposeful interfaces to life.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain responsive and visually compelling desktop applications using .NET (C#) and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
Create seamless and intuitive user experiences that align with UI/UX best practices
Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate functional requirements into thoughtful interface solutions
Apply the MVVM architectural pattern, including strong use of XAML for interface design and data binding
Conduct user testing, gather feedback, and iterate on UI/UX improvements
Develop reusable UI components to maintain consistency across product lines
Troubleshoot and resolve interface-related performance or usability issues
Stay current with evolving desktop UI/UX trends, tools, and methodologies

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency in .NET (C#) and WPF application development
Strong knowledge of XAML, MVVM, and data binding principles
Familiarity with UI/UX design tools, wireframing, and user-centered design methodologies
Ability to build modern, user-friendly desktop interfaces that balance function and aesthetics
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to design consistency
Strong debugging skills and the ability to work through complex interface issues
Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-disciplinary teams

Preferred Skills

Experience integrating desktop UIs with backend APIs and services
Knowledge of accessibility standards and usability best practices
Familiarity with enterprise software systems such as payroll, accounts payable, or assessment tools
