SUMMARY:
Bobrick is seeking a results-oriented and technically proficient Software Development Manager to lead our in-house development team and manage external consulting partners. This role is responsible for the successful delivery of custom software projects, with a strong emphasis on operational efficiency, system integration, project execution, team leadership, and alignment with business objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of in-house developers, fostering a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative culture.
- Implement structured training plans to support the adoption of new technologies and tools.
- Define and enforce team processes for task tracking, code reviews, version control, and helpdesk escalations.
Project Management & Execution:
- Collaborate with the PMO to scope, plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Own project milestone tracking, risk identification, mitigation, and proactive stakeholder communication.
- Maintain clarity on project objectives, deliverables, and cross-functional impacts.
Technical Oversight:
- Provide guidance on system architecture, .NET development best practices, API integrations, and database design.
- Ensure all development efforts meet performance, security, scalability, and reliability standards.
- Support the transition from legacy monolithic systems to modern, modular, API-driven applications.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to inform future system architecture and development practices.
- Resource and Workload Planning:
- Maintain visibility into team capacity and work distribution through tools such as Jira or project boards.
- Communicate workload forecasts and prioritization guidance to IT leadership and business stakeholders.
Process & Policy Implementation:
- Contribute to the definition of development policies and procedures in collaboration with IT leadership.
- Champion the adoption and consistent enforcement of standards across the development team.
Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with third-party development partners, ensuring scope alignment and quality delivery.
- Define and oversee RFQs, contracts, and performance tracking.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between development, PMO, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders.
- Partner closely with business users throughout the software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering and design through testing and deployment—ensuring alignment with business goals and a shared understanding of deliverables.
- Communicate technical risks, project updates, and strategic recommendations in business terms.
Cybersecurity and Compliance:
- Ensure development follows secure coding practices and collaborate with cybersecurity teams during release reviews to maintain compliance.
- Budget Management:
- Manage department-related expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Development Methodology Adaptation:
- Recommend and tailor appropriate development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.) based on project needs and stakeholder involvement.
DevOps and Incident Response Collaboration:
- Partner with DevOps to improve CI/CD processes and ensure deployment reliability.
- Support production incident analysis and resolution in collaboration with infrastructure and support teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience in .NET technologies, REST APIs, SQL Server.
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably Infor Syteline) and integrating third-party platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to manage full development life cycles and software release management.
- Experience in managing third-party vendors and consulting resources.
- Solid understanding of Agile development practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based platforms.
- Familiarity with generative AI technologies and their application in software development processes (e.g., code generation, documentation, testing automation).

Pay: $151,000.00 - $178,000.00
