The Systems Administrator I is responsible for handling day-to-day information technology (IT) system support for the organization. The System Administrator I is responsible for providing systems support for end users and will complete support tasks for network devices and servers, help with installation setups, and revise existing documentation guidelines. Other main functions include providing training for teams, answering technology questions as needed, completing administrative tasks when required, and filling out documentation when requesting new inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing all day-to-day tasks necessary to support and maintain the network and server environment.
Monitoring and maintaining security systems and cameras (supported by ADT)
Self-starter/self-motivated, capable of staying on track and pursuing solutions without much supervision; flexible do-whatever-it-takes solution-oriented approach.
Monitor system performance and network traffic to identify and address potential issues before they affect operations.
Manage all Windows/Mac OS PCs including hardware/software upgrades and patching of OS and applications.
High level working knowledge of Microsoft products to include Office, 365, OneDrive and SharePoint
Working knowledge of VOIP
Manage infrastructure including network domain, servers (2003 and newer), firewall specifically Fortinet, network redundancy, security, help desk.
Monitor on-premises/cloud infrastructure reliability.
Provide helpdesk support as needed in a timely manner.
Analyze and provide solutions to the needs of the organization.
Keeping systems operating efficiently by performing any necessary upgrades and repairs.
Planning a strategy to maintain system security on the computers and the network as a whole.
Optimizing and evaluating the system regularly.
Assigning and updating security permissions for the system network.
Training or directing users to the correct use of software and hardware within the system.
Performing problem-solving tasks when alerted by a user or monitoring system.
Job Requirements:
Physical and Mental ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time as necessary to complete job assignments and job duties.
This is a non-supervisory position, and the individual may occasionally be asked to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
Required to understand and communicate and follow directions both verbally and in written English.
The System Administrator must think logically and reasonably.
May need to perform PC Tech duties on as per need basis.
WORK EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with a quantitative emphasis required.
Previous experience in a Help Desk capacity - as well as additional industry and software certifications are a plus - may be required.
Experience (3+ years) of managing a network environment is required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environment.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment.
Knowledge of Quickbooks a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be friendly, outgoing, congenial and a team player.
