Job Title: Senior .NET Developer – Nutrition Programs (State Educational Agency)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior .NET Developer to support the development and maintenance of a large-scale nutrition program system for a State Educational Agency. This platform plays a critical role in delivering USDA food and nutrition services to students through programs like Direct Certification, School Breakfast and Lunch, Summer Food Services, and more.
As a senior developer, you will be instrumental in enhancing system functionality, ensuring compliance with federal standards, and delivering reliable service to schools and families across the state.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
- (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
- 7+ years of professional software development experience
- 5+ consecutive years as a senior developer working on state agency nutrition-related systems
Technical Skills:
- .NET Core / .NET Framework, ASP.NET Web Forms
- C# and/or VB.NET, MVC, JavaScript
- Entity Framework / EF Core, SQL Server 2012+
- API development and integration
- Visual Studio 2017+
- Strong experience with Agile methodology, including Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, version control, sprints)
Project Requirements:
- Participation in at least 3 USDA food program projects within the last 5 years (e.g., Direct Certification, Summer Food Service Program, National School Lunch Program, Special Milk Program, etc.)
- Experience working on and maintaining large-scale production systems in an educational or government setting
- Active participation in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Use of pull requests, code reviews, and work item tracking
Soft Skills & Competencies:
- Strong collaboration and communication with state agencies and stakeholders
- Proven leadership in managing and maintaining complex applications
- Clear, concise technical documentation practices
- Detail-oriented, self-driven, and highly organized
Preferred:
- Experience with federal or state compliance requirements
- Familiarity with child nutrition program reporting standards and data flows
- Working knowledge of security standards applicable to educational and government systems
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
