About the Role
AVS Technology is seeking a motivated Junior Developer to support the development and maintenance of enterprise software applications under the guidance of senior software engineers. The ideal candidate will have experience in Windows and web development environments, a strong grasp of modern programming tools, and familiarity with platforms such as .NET, Pega, EDI, and Salesforce. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software applications under supervision
- Ensure code accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards
- Support development efforts in both Windows and web-based environments
- Collaborate with senior developers and follow enterprise coding best practices
- Document development processes, procedures, and technical specifications
- Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving application issues
- Participate in the integration of systems using APIs, EDI protocols, and data exchange standards
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline
– Substitution: Eight (8) additional years of relevant experience may replace the educational requirement
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in creating, testing, and maintaining software applications
- Proficiency in both Windows and web development environments
- Ability to create clear and accurate technical documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Required Skills
- Familiarity with programming languages such as .NET, Java, and Python
- Exposure to enterprise platforms like Pega, Salesforce, and EDI solutions
- Understanding of core software development principles and debugging techniques
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and follow direction
- Attention to detail in code, documentation, and testing
- Strong troubleshooting and issue-resolution capabilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in government or federal contracting environments
- Familiarity with VA Financial Services Center systems and enterprise operations
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Awareness of secure coding principles and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Experience with version control tools such as Git or GitHub
- Exposure to Agile or Scrum software development methodologies
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, system integrations, and microservices concepts
- Familiarity with low-code platforms such as Appian or ServiceNow
- Interest in pursuing technical certifications (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, Salesforce Associate)
