JOB OVERVIEW
The Solutions Architect role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing technical solutions that align with business goals and ensure scalability, security, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business needs and technology, driving digital transformation and supporting enterprise initiatives in the life insurance and annuity space.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Solution Design and Architecture:
- Design end-to-end technical solutions for life insurance and annuity systems, including policy administration, claims processing, underwriting, and customer portals.
- Develop scalable, secure, and high-performing architecture tailored to meet business requirements.
- Lead the integration of legacy systems with modern platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and user experience.
Technical Leadership:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and IT teams to define solution requirements.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to development teams, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance system capabilities.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to translate business objectives into technical solutions.
- Work closely with compliance and regulatory teams to ensure solutions meet industry standards and legal requirements.
- Communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Digital Transformation:
- Support the implementation of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, AI, and data analytics in the insurance domain.
- Drive modernization efforts for legacy systems, focusing on operational efficiency and improved customer experience.
System Integration and Security:
- Architect and oversee the integration of third-party applications, APIs, and external data sources.
- Ensure robust data security and compliance with industry regulations, such as HIPAA, SOC, etc..
Properly adheres to company risk management principles:
- Adhering to and supporting GBU’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Understanding and complying with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures; completing all required training; executing and monitoring controls effectively (as applicable); appropriately identifying, assessing, escalating and remediating risks, potential issues and control failures (as applicable); and reporting compliance or regulatory concerns to management.
- Understanding and conducting oneself in accordance with the Employee Handbook and preserving GBU’s brand and reputation.
Documentation and Standards:
- Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation, including system designs, data flows, and integration points.
- Establish and enforce architectural best practices, standards, and guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Solutions Architect, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity processes, including policy lifecycle, actuarial systems, and customer management.
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and microservices architecture.
- Proficiency in system integration, APIs, and enterprise service bus (ESB) technologies.
- Solid knowledge of data architecture, ETL processes, and analytics tools.
- Experience with compliance and regulatory frameworks in the insurance sector.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

GBU’s office and main operations are based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We employ a staff of around 118 loyal, tenured employees. GBU is financially strong and earned an “A-” A.M. Pay: $98,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year
